Over the course of our lives, most of us are convinced that we are problems - often due to oppression, violence and mistreatment. We respond to these problem-focused stories with things like shame, anxiety and depression. My clients and I work together to tell different stories that let us see ourselves as full people with complicated lives (that we are excited to live!).

Narrative therapy and liberation psychology guide my practice - finding pathways towards healing from the dehumanizing effects of systemic oppression. Therapy with me is a space for you to explore and be affirmed in your identity, while understanding the ways you came to be and are still becoming.

These three ideas are at the heart of my work:

  • You are not the problem.

  • The problem is the problem.

  • The problem is not yours alone to solve.

Our meetings will feel conversational. I’ll ask you to tell me stories about your life and ask questions that help us expand their meaning. I'll attend to your pace, though I may challenge you to think in ways you haven’t considered before. I'll listen for details and sparkling moments that could offer entryways to new understanding. Together, we'll untangle and reauthor the stories that make you up.

The therapist-client relationship is foundational to my practice. It is important that we feel able to connect and create with one another. Reach out and schedule a 15-minute consultation to see if it’s a good fit.

My right to be me is tied with a thousand threads to your right to be you.
