The stories we tell shape our lives. Unfortunately, over the course of our lives most of us are convinced that we are problems. We respond to these problem-focused stories with things like shame, anxiety, and depression.

My clients and I work together to tell different stories that let us see ourselves as full people with complicated lives (that we are excited to live!). I enjoy working with people who are in life transition - or who want to be. When the taken-for-granted parts of our lives get shaken up, creativity and growth can thrive.

Three ideas are at the heart of my work:

  • You are not the problem.

  • The problem is the problem.

  • The problem is not yours alone to solve.

Narrative therapy and liberation psychology guide my practice - finding pathways towards healing from the dehumanizing effects of systemic oppression. Therapy with me is a space for you to explore and be affirmed in your identity, while understanding the ways you came to be and are still becoming.

Our meetings will feel conversational, interesting, and experientially unique. I'll attend to your pace and listen closely to your words, searching intently for details and sparkling moments that could offer entryways to new understanding. Clients have told me that I ask questions they've never been asked before, that challenge them to "dig deep" and "do the work".  Together, we'll untangle and reauthor the stories that make you up.

The therapist-client relationship is foundational to my practice. It is important that we feel able to connect and create with one another. Reach out and schedule a 15-minute consultation to see if it’s a good fit.

My right to be me is tied with a thousand threads to your right to be you.
