Brood X

Every 17 years millions of members of Brood X, the largest periodical cicada brood in the Eastern United States, emerge from the soil to fly, mate and sing. I met Brood X late in second grade, searching for the rare ones with differently colored eyes. They came up again this year for their short above-ground life and won't be seen again in mass until 2038. What versions of ourselves will we be in 17 years? How will the landscapes of our lives change?

All pieces are 12x16" watercolor and ink.

My right to be me is tied with a thousand threads to your right to be you.
